Air Conditioning Tips
Now that the warm weather is here, call Hart & Iliff if you are interested in installing a central air conditioning system. If you already have central air, call us if you need service or would like seasonal checkup and maintenance on your system.Here are some tips to help your central air conditioning system run more efficiently:
- Change the air filters at the start of the season and again about halfway through, more often if you are in a dusty area.
- Washing leaves and dirt off the outside of the unit with a moderate water spray will save electricity and increase the unit’s capacity.
- Keeping the cooling thermostat in the 75° range will usually be the most comfortable. You may want to go lower on a warm and muggy day, depending on your activity and clothing.
- Don’t let the house temperature build up to 90° or more, then expect it to cool off quickly. The unit may take many hours to cool and remove humidity from the air and the furnishings.
- Consider installing a setback thermostat so that your air conditioner doesn’t run 24 hours a day.
